Published in Science. Ecp6 has been isolated from a 2D gel and the amino acid sequence could be determined upward of the N-terminus. This Ecp6 is cloned. Ecp6 is produced by every Cladosporium strain and was one of the first effectors that showed homology to a known domain. It contains a LysM domain. With this domain chintine fragments can be bound with high affinity and with that removed. The plant does not detect chitin and does not turn on its defence mechanism.
