Actin dynamics in Phytophthora infestans; rapidly reorganizing cables and immobile-long-lived plaques. The actin cytoskeleton is a dynamic intracellular framework that is essential for proper functioning of eukaryotic cells. This is the first study using live cell imaging for visualizing the dynamics of actin in an oomycete. Noteworthy is the peculiar behavior of actin plaques, the typical oomycete-specific actin structures with unknown function, that are rather immobile and have a relatively long lifetime.
